Feb 27, 2016 #1 So yeah as the title suggests i keep getting a random crash to desktop while playing fallout 4, Im not doing anything in particular.
So i think i have it sorted, well maybe. First off rest both your global and Fallout graphics setting from the Nvida Control panel. Then for fallout turn off Vsync.
Next in GF Experience load the optimal settings. Also it appears you have an OC going with yoru CPU. I had to de tune mine ( -200 Mhz) a bit to get it to play correctly.
I play all of my other games with my pc over clocked but this one doesnt like it too much, my guess i has to do with how the engine uses system memory and the FSB ratio. Also check that you have the lateest drivers installed for your GPU. Have the same problem, crash without warning or msg to desktop. After launch i played 6 hours straight and quit the game myself. No crashes, no bugs etc.Now after that update we got today, it crashes all randomly evrywhere from 1min play - 2 hour play.
No specific thing i do, walking in wilds, only trees, crash. Crash. And here i thought i actually got a Bethesta game thats bugfree!!!GTX 770 2gbi5-4670k 3,40 ghz8gb ramWin 7 UltimateAll drivers updated etc, tried lowest setttings, optyimized with nvidia geforce. Happens all random. I have noticed that when you restart your computer and the memory been cleared, it does play longer without crash, so might be a memory on ram that gets filled up after you been doing alot of stuff. So i allocated more memory from my hard drives to use as RAM, and does look like it helps a bit, but did still get crash.Fallouy 3 and new vegas did have same problem with ram memory getting used up and not cleared after time. Prolly why i can play more after a computer restart! Originally posted by:Happens all random.

Then it started crashing more frequently untill I rebooted.I was hoping any one with some more knowledge about computers could tell if this is fixable by me in my computer or it has to be patched.
I just crashed to desktop as well, its the first crash i have ever experience in fallout 4. I just completed nuclear option for minutemen. And was breaking down all the equipment to base forms before throwing it into storage containers. I stored almost all of it and just working on a few weapons then crashed to desktop.one thing very annoying bug since last patch (maybe related), is when changing mods on weapons and armors (I been changing to 1st option for each catagory before storage) is that there is a display bug where you click standard (or which ever is first option) and displays a different mod. But backing up one screen then into a different mod and backing up to main screen for same item shows the correct mod you installed.
Its just a display bug but dont know if its corrupting memory.im not running any mods and no dlc purchased. Originally posted by:My crashes started with the 1.4 patch. Game was great before, now I am redownloading in hopes to iron the bugs out. It's pretty sad actually. Crashing is just one out of many bugs. They release patches really slowly and they don't even fix the bugs and just add new ones.I think they actually downgraded the AI since release. Because when i played it at release, the settlers would sometimes get stuck in the doorways and sometimes on other things (as far as i remember), but it was not very noticeable. But recently i started a new game, got 6 ppl in sanctuary, and at least half of them are walking into walls, bushes or other things THE ENTIRE TIME.
Preston spends all days walking into a bush, unless i talk to him, which causes him to walk somewhere else for a while, be he gets stuck later anyway. Other settlers also have their favourite walls to walk into. It's just really sad. This could be a great game, and i do enjoy it still, but these bugs are really killing it. I have not tried disabling SLI yet. But even if the crashing is caused by SLI, Bethesda should have known and not forced it as default setting. I mean SLI is actually really needed for a demanding game like this, but they should not have added it if it causes crashing.
Bethesda and the game can't turn SLI or Crossfire on and off you have to either enable or disable it in your Nvidia/Amd control panel. The game was not using sli at release. Then i havent played it for a few months and just recently started playing again. And suddenly now it's using both of my gpu's. They clearly added sli support as default setting. It can't be turned on by the game you must have it turned on in the Nvidia control panel in order for the game to use it.

Never changed it. Still having it enabled didn't do anything when i first played Fallout 4, it just didn't use both gpu's. But now suddenly it does use both gpu's. Not sure if it's caused by game patches or video driver updates, either way i didn't change anything.
Fallout 4 Keeps Crashing To Desktop Computer
Again try turning it off in the control panel to see if it stops the CTD's.
